The summer after first year, I worked at a Bollywood movie theatre. When I wasn't eating the corners off samosas or stealing "kulfi" (which was actually just ice cream), I was bored out of my mind. For some reason, though, I was the star employee and they gave me a bunch of hours. One day I had a 13-hour shift and I spent some of it asking people to text me jokes and most of it thinking very hard about The Sound and the Fury by William Faulkner, which I had just read. I think dealing with angry Indian fathers all day made me more obsessive than usual.
As a result, I drew a lot of fanart. And then I drew some more and then stopped for a while and then this past year yet more. Honestly I cringe just looking at those laughably bad drawings but I suppose it's fun to see the evolution of an idea that's sat in the asshole of my brain for almost two years.
Which leads me to the above. They are based purely on my emotions surrounding the book, so I'm looking forward to rereading it and seeing what I missed / where I differed, etc. Actually... Looking over these now, I'm realizing that I subconsciously based Jason's design (the dude in the overalls) on a Jason who worked at the theatre with me. At the time, he was the only Jason I knew, so I matched him with the Jason I'd just read, and he stuck.
And... I loooooove the relationship between Caddy and Quentin. (Am I a bad person)

Why do you have to be so talented?! It's not fair... anyways, we need to catch up sometime soon! I want to see some stuff from your film :)
